The Anti-Doping Bureau of Latvia provides a service - collecting samples of doping control tests (urine or blood samples) during sports competitions or out-of-competitions.
When applying for the control of doping during competitions, the Anti-Doping Bureau of Latvia shall make a selection of the athletes from whom analysis samples will be collected (either on the basis of the results achieved by the athletes in the competition or at random, or by targeting the athlete on the basis of information at the disposal of the Bureau).
In applying for doping control out-of-competition, the Anti-Doping Bureau of Latvia shall carry out tests on athletes of other anti-doping organisations (national anti-doping organisations of other countries, international federations, etc.) who are in the register of athletes to be tested by the relevant organisation (registered testing pool). The tests shall be carried out according to the location information provided by the athlete to his anti-doping organisation.

Process description

  1. Requesting the doping control tests
    In order to request the collection of samples of doping control tests during competitions, the organiser of the competition must contact the Anti-Doping Office of Latvia in order to specify:
    1. what kind of samples it is necessary to collect (urine and/or blood samples);
    2. what tests will be required for the samples;
    3. to which laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency samples will have to be sent, as well as arrangements for covering these costs.
    It is even necessary to arrange the availability of doping control station, as well as on the free movement of personnel involved in the competition area.

    In order to apply for the collection of samples of doping control out-of-competition, the anti-doping organisation needs to contact the Anti-Doping Bureau of Latvia in order to specify:
    1. what kind of analysis is necessary to collect (urine and/or blood samples);
    2. what examinations will be required for the samples;
    3. to which laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency samples will have to be sent, as well as arrangements for covering these costs.

  2. Payment of requested doping control sample collection
    After coordinating the types of samples to be collected and the analyses to be performed on samples, as well as agreeing on the transportation of samples, it is necessary to make the necessary payments in accordance with the price list of the Anti-Doping Bureau of Latvia charge services.

  3. Collection of doping control samples
    After agreeing on the collection of the necessary samples and making the necessary payments, the Anti-Doping Bureau of Latvia will carry out the collection of doping control samples in competition organised by the organiser of the event, or out-of-competition for an athlete determined, in accordance with the information available regarding the whereabouts of the athlete.
